CareZone Shut Down — What Happened and Where Users Went
CareZone let families track a loved one's medications and coordinate care for free. After Walmart Health's shutdown, it's gone — here's what that means for the families who relied on it.
What CareZone was
CareZone was a free app that let families keep a shared medication list, log care notes, and store important documents for a loved one — popular specifically because it was free and genuinely useful for the unglamorous logistics of caregiving: dosages, refill timing, and a place to put the information every family member needed but nobody wanted to re-type from memory.
What happened
CareZone operated under Walmart Health. When Walmart Health shut down in April 2024, CareZone was retired along with it. Accounts that weren't migrated to another service before the shutdown were deactivated, and the medication lists, notes, and documents families had built up inside it went with it.
That's left a specific, real gap: families who'd built their medication-tracking routine around CareZone now need somewhere else to put that same information — and most of the mainstream alternatives either charge more, do less, or both.
Where to go instead
StayOK covers CareZone's core use cases — a shared medication list and a coordinated view for the whole family — and adds daily wellness check-ins, missed check-in alerts, and wellness trends over time, none of which CareZone had.
There's no automated CareZone import, since the two products don't share any data infrastructure, but re-entering a medication list — names, dosages, times — during signup typically takes a few minutes, and it only has to happen once.
